Thank you to everyone who came along to our bike recycling event on Monday 24 June!
Staff at Priory House, Chicksands and local residents responded to the call to donate their unwanted bikes and around 90 bikes were collected on the day. The bikes have already gone to the Luton Council workshop to be refurbished ready for re-homing!
Bikes of all shapes and sizes were donated including some “vintage models”, but it’s hoped that nothing will go to waste and that even those bikes that are not suitable to be ridden again will be used for spare parts. Once refurbished and made roadworthy, the bikes are photographed and catalogued and offered for sale at affordable prices or provided free of charge to individuals or families on low income. All of the income generated by sales go back into running the recycling scheme.
