The Big Walk and Wheel (March/ April)

Sponsored by UK cycling charity Sustrans, The Big Walk and Wheel is the UK’s largest inter-schools walking, wheeling, cycling and scooter-based challenge that inspires and empowers pupils, teachers, and parents to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.

Walk to Work Day (April)

Simple steps improve your health and could pay dividends in the years ahead. Taking part in Walk to Work Day helps to reduce carbon emissions, add healthy movement to your day and generally appreciate the world around you.

Walk to School Week (May)

The Walk to School Week challenge encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. Pupils learn about the importance of walking or wheeling, and the benefits for individuals, communities and the planet.

Bike Week (June)

Bike Week is the UK’s biggest awareness-raising moment of the year for cycling. It celebrates all the positives that riding a bike can bring, both to our own health and wellbeing, as well as the wider impacts on our communities and the planet.

Clean Air Day (June)

National Clean Air Day gives people a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information with friends and colleagues, and help to make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Cycle to Work Day (August)

The UK’s biggest cycling commuting event which is for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t cycled in years, or have never cycled before - it’s just about giving it a go!

Catch the Bus Month (September)

A nationwide campaign aimed at the benefits of taking the bus which provides vital connections to education, work, healthcare and leisure, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to lead active and fulfilling lives.

Road Safety Week (September)

A national campaign that aims to inspire schools, organisations, and communities to act on road safety and promote life-saving messages during the week and beyond.
